Paul Hinkle is a nice and kind old man who lives right next door to Caillou.
He is also good friends with Boris and Doris. Caillou visits him sometimes. He is a (second) grandfather figure to Caillou and Rosie.
He is voiced by Rick Jones.
In his intro episode, Caillou Isn't Afraid Anymore, Caillou was at first scared of Mr. Hinkle; he had heard lot of the kids in the neighborhood say that a ghost lived in that house and how scary Mr. Hinkle was. But, he soon got over his fears when he tried to hide from his mom and Mr. Hinkle, only for it to turn into a game of hide and seek, and Caillou found himself having fun.
Mr. Hinkle has lived in the Caillou Neighborhood and has a 2-story red house. He has an older sister named Nancy, who lives on farm and has a pet rabbit named Snowball. She appeared in the episodes Farmer for the day and Mystery carrots. In the former, his first name is revealed to be Paul. Mr. Hinkle does not seem to have a wife. He has a good tooth.
At a garage sale, Mr. Hinkle serves hot dogs, but instead of serving them on buns, he serves them on slices of sandwich bread.
He likes to chase Caillou while he hides from him. He's also a good cook and likes to build things.
